Support comes in as many different forms as the children in our care. There are numerous ways for people to volunteer and become involved. Your support is essential to the success of these children.SPONSORSHIP of an individual child or group outings provide positive role models for the children and because donations of your time can make such a difference in a child's life.Fundraisers
are held at the Home to provide an income on a regular basis. We have such events as Murder Mystery Dinners, concerts and auctions.Financial Support
People often feel they cannot provide financial assistance because they don't have a large sum to give. We aren't asking for everyone to donate thousands or even hundreds of dollars. Each month a group of individuals give to the Home an established amount comfortable for them, such as ten to twenty dollars. These people are a part of the group we call Kash 4 Kids! It is this type of donation that we count on each month that takes care of the everyday expenses such as food, utilities, gas, etc. Costs just seem to keep going up, but donations don't. Please consider what it would take for you to give at least ten dollars every month to make such a BIG difference in a child's life.Holidays
Christmas is exciting at the home due to the generosity of many people. There are two high schools from nearby towns that have been coming to the Pythian Home for close to thirty years to provide gifts for the children. Ladies of Avon have taken the Home as a project and provide Valentine cookies and other goodies all through the year. Truly these folks understand the meaning of "it is more blessed to give than receive", because they do so abundantly. It is these types of events that allow the children to receive items they wouldn't otherwise have.Supporting the Pythian Home
The Grand Lodge, Knights of Pythias of Texas and the Pythian Sisters of Texas pay dues with a portion going to the Home annually. Memorials made to the Home are placed in the endowment, as well as estates, wills and bequests. The Home operates only on the interest generated by the endowment. The amount beyond the interest then must come from private donations.Public Events
There are rooms that have been made available for the public to rent also. The auditorium is used for birthday parties, dances, football parties, proms and annual banquets among other programs.OTHER TYPES OF SUPPORT NEEDED:
- Volunteers are needed to provide transportation for the children to outside activities such as school sporting events.
- Our younger children also need assistance in preparing for school. Many of the children have not had the educational background to excel in school and a few hours a week spent with a volunteer give them invaluable help in school.
- Any donation is accepted by the Home. We put to use any materials given to us or make sure someone receives it who can. All contributions are greatly appreciated.
